High Speed Internet Access (HSIA)

What you need to know when free is not an option.

Time: TBA

Program Description:
At some point in every facility contract negotiation, there is a conversation regarding internet access. Given the pace of technological change and consumer usage patterns, the concern is whether either side has sufficient knowledge to ask the right questions and achieve desired outcomes.
Planners know about the importance of event history and understanding projected needs such as F&B consumption, attendance numbers, etc., but many don’t know how much High Speed Internet Access (HSIA) bandwidth they use, how it is being used, whether they are receiving what they contracted for, and/or what level of service is required.

It is hard to believe that the first iPhone was released barely five years ago, followed by Android, and then the iPad which has only been around since 2010. With these tech milestones, device adoption rates have skyrocketed along with increased consumer demand for better connectivity and faster access. Internet access has gone from an amenity to a necessity both for event attendees and meeting professionals.

In this session, you will learn how to :

  • Make informed decisions regarding conference internet throughput needs to meet content delivery and attendee expectations.
  • Enhance budget forecasting through improved methods for calculating bandwidth
  • Heighten attendee satisfaction through provision of adequate bandwidth to meet growing demands.

This program was developed by and is delivered under the auspices of the CIC APEX Standards Review Council and its Bandwidth and Connectivity Workgroup.
